The Grand Quest Themed Campaign


This is the story of Anwrathger's treasure. Anwrathger The Crimson is an immensely powerful Red Dragon that lives in the solitary mountains. Him and kin have made their nest deep within the mountains. His fortune is said to be infinite, his hoard endless.

Details of the Grand Quest:

Adventurers,

In my capacity as the overseer at the Hall of Adventurers. I have been chosen to set you on your task of The Grand Quest. As you can see we are at the far reaches of Ergo. Beyond here is a dead land that acts as a buffer between our lands and that of another. Living in this wasteland are an array of deadly creatures. Worst than those, tucked away in the mountains are nests of dragon families. It is a nest of red dragons that has brought you all here today. Until recently the head of this nest Anwrathger had a treaty with The King in exchange for tribute he would leave Ergo untouched and allow trade through. They would even lend aid to Ergo for a fair price. However, in recent months Anwrathger has either grown bold or greedy. He and his kin has started attacking the outer settlements and wagons traveling through. They have taken many items and taxes meant for the kingdom. Which is why it has been deemed necessary to handle them.

Some of you will be wondering about the riches, items and curious artifacts. These items along with the treasure they have hoarded over the centuries lay within the dragons’ nests. Take whatever you like with the thanks of the kingdom, however know that the dragons will not part with their gold willingly. For the greatest prices you will have to cut your way through the nest and eventually fight Anwrathger himself.

(explain that they can go as high as they want up the mountain but the goal is to get as much gold without dying.)

Now should any of you decide that this quest is not for you can just whisper the word return into the coin three times. The coins in your possession have been registered to your party. However you must been close together for the magic to work. (5feet apart.) Near enough to touch is fine. You and your party will be returned to the capital and the coin will melt away.

Dragons have magic as well they have wards to protect them and stop magic getting in. You must be off the mountains in order to use your coins. Apart from that it will work one time to bring you back to Purehold. Once you leave there is not returning. So be sure you take all you can before abandoning the gold to the others.

The kingdom warns you that dragon defend their homes well. Aside from the monsters roaming these dead lands be wary of traps. Both Magical and mundane. How and when you proceed is up to you. As long as the treasure pillaged and the dragons slayed we have no care for the methods employed.  Just remember that the pride of Ergo and untold treasure lay at the top of that mountain.

The World of Ergo

Ergo is a nation unlike any other. It likes to keep to itself and stays out of world, realm, universe and multiverse affairs. If you ask any Ergoen they will say it is the greatest nation that has ever or will ever exist, however considering it is extremely rare for an Ergoen to leave Ergo their view may seem a little bias. Magic users at heart Ergoens use this magic to protect and conceal themselves from outsiders.
Ergo is an island nation. The nation is mainly human with other humanoid races accepted but rather rare. Magic is common in Ergo as in Gold, which draws a lot of outsiders to this wealthy nation. The authorities would have you believe everything is as close to paradise as possible, however you may see the darkness seeping through that most choose to avoid. The forces of darkness and power hunger gods wish to claim this nation for themselves. Which side will you take?


Halloween in Ergo

The Halloween season in Ergo is called the Day of Darkness.

 During this time the people of Ergo retreat to the major cities and their defences.

Each of the cities have magical white light dome barriers stopping any Aberration, Construct, Fey Fiend, Giant, Monstrosity, Ooze, Plant or Undead from entering the city.

 During this time monsters come out from whichever hole they have been hiding in and hope to find unprotected people to prey upon.

(The monsters can range depending on the area.)

Ergo only has two gods, Leto the god of light and the mistress of night Loom.

Leto is LG and protects those in his realm from evil.

 Loom is also LG, however after being banished to the night for so many years she pities the monsters and allows them this one day of night to be free

Adventures may travel out at this time of year to hunt monsters, but they may bite of more than they can chew.

 

To those foolish enough to venture out on this darkness night

Know mighty Leto only defends the cities with is radiant light

Much dwells in the night from monsters, ghouls to ghosts

And all they want is to prey on you the most.
